Since he first got on stage to sing, back in 1994, there have been hundreds of occasions in which he has performed live, in front of audiences of up to more than a thousand people. He has participated in jams and has organized them, has played alone, with his groups, and as a guest at other people's concerts, played at festivals, tours, spontaneous presentations, tributes, busking, accompanying theater plays and poetry concerts...
The presentations include several countries and regions: Argentina, Spain, England, Austria, France, Portugal, Morocco... and in each place the experiences, anecdotes, memories, friendships multiply.
SEBASTIAN GRIZ (soloist)
Although his main instrument was always the guitar, following the advice of Claudio Gabis, he decided to also apply himself with his voice in order to not depend on the possibility of finding a singer.
Thanks to this, he has performed on numerous occasions with his guitar and voice in acoustic format, although on others he has also performed with the sitar, with pre-recorded accompaniments, and sometimes with guest musicians. He also plays other instruments, such as sitar, bass guitar, mandolin, charango, ukulele, didjeridoo, keyboards... and few others, which has allowed him to join different projects and events.
LUPERCALIA
After meeting her current partner, Ana de Gracia, who is a singer, she decides to form a group with the intention of performing live again after the forced break during the pandemic.
On some occasions the two perform at various musical events, but the intention of forming a group persists.
Thus, after various formations, and the passage of numerous musicians, they made their first presentation as a group, under the name of Lupercalia, in the city of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, where Ana is originally from. On this occasion they have Anibal Benaglia on drums and Ezequiel de Escalada on bass guitar.
Currently the group include Ana de Gracia (vocals), Anibal Benaglia (drums), Stuart Grant (bass guitar) and Sebastián Griz (guitar, backing vocals, sitar, others), and guests.
MARIPOSA LUNAR
It was a group that fused music from different cultures and eras without focusing on any one in particular.
Based mainly on compositions by Sebastián Griz, it showed features of Arabic, Hindu, South Saharan, Southern and Central American, Celtic, Anglo-Saxon, and Japanese music with acoustic and electric sounds.
Thanks to the constant innovation in its repertoire, and the inclusion of numerous guest musicians, each presentation was a unique and unrepeatable ritual.
In the three years it existed, they performed more than 100 presentations, including concerts and jams.
ETHNODELIC JAM
From the beginning of 2008 until 2011, Sebastián Griz, together with Mariposa Lunar and other musicians, organized the first stable ethnic and experimental jam in Barcelona.
In these jams, no standards, versions, or typical structures of any style were played. The musicians simply got on stage with their instruments (whatever they were...) and began to improvise freely, according to the mood of the moment and their own feelings.
There was a huge variety of instruments and styles from all over the world, and creativity was always prioritized over technique.
OTHER PARTICIPATIONS
Over the years, Sebastián has played in numerous projects with other artists, some of which have performed live, while others have only recorded, or have never gone beyond being projects...
Some artists he has played with have been Hipercandombe, Bassirou Dieng, Nothing Concrete, among others.
GUEST
Over the years, Sebastián has participated as a guest in numerous projects by other artists, whether for presentations of their albums, concerts, poetry recitals, musicalization of theater plays, and sometimes even spontaneously.
Some artists he has played with have been Africa Live, Bassirou Dieng, Rubén Billordo, Pepe Cuesta, Fergus McKay, and many others.
PRODUCER
Event production, musicalization, sound technician, artistic director, stage director... are positions and functions necessary to be able to carry out a concert properly. Therefore, he sometimes has to be "backstage."
Some artistic groups and institutions with which he has collaborated are the Argentine Consulate in Barcelona (co-producer of the tribute to Luis Alberto Spinetta), CAC - Centro Argentino de Catalunya (co-producer, artistic director, sound technician), FeDMUn (creator and co-producer of the festival), Soulmade (stage director, associate producer), Improducción theater company (soundtrack creator and sound technician), among others.
