Artistic biography



From the age of 14, when he began to create music and poetry, he participated in several groups in Buenos Aires as a guitarist, composer and singer, and since 2000 he has been a regular contributor to the literary and cultural magazine Beatrizos, in addition to occasionally participating in other printed and online media.

In 2001 he emigrated to Barcelona in search of better artistic opportunities. Since then, he has played in numerous concerts as a soloist, with his bands and also as a guest and session artist, and has held exhibitions of drawings, poetry and multimedia on several occasions.

From 2005 to 2007 he worked on various musicians' recordings, as part of a cooperative proposed and organized by himself to publish new composers; he participated as a composer, arranger, performer, sound technician, and producer. In 2006 he took the sound technician course, complementing with theory the practical knowledge given by his experience. Also around this time he studied theatrical improvisation with maestro Oscar Calvo, and was part of several groups of writers, appearing regularly at poetic concerts.

Within that cooperative they released Burning down my soul, the first solo album by singer and composer Maurizio Taglieri. In it, Sebastián Griz is in charge of arranging and performing all the instruments, in addition to being in charge of artistic and executive production, recording, mixing, and mastering, while the artist provides all the compositions and lyrics, and records the voices. This album was reissued in 2016, improving the sound quality.

In February 2008 he formed Mariposa Lunar, a group in which he was musical director, performer and composer. In July 2009 they released the album Conjuro, in which he is also in charge of the artistic and executive production, in addition to composing all the songs and playing guitars. With this group they performed at numerous concerts and events in Catalonia during the three years of its life.

Also starting in February 2008, he organized the first stable experimental and ethnic jam in Barcelona, in which he played with musicians from all over the world different styles from their countries of origin (free jams of Hindustani, Japanese, Arabic, African, Latin American and European folklore, rock, psychedelia, among other styles).

In September 2009, he presents a multimedia exhibition featuring his drawings, poetry and music at the Punt Multimedia civic center.

In January 2011 he was hired to provide music for the Junky Sahara Retreat, a spiritual retreat in the Sahara Desert, living an extremely enriching experience there, and being in charge of creating musical moods for a week.

Also at the beginning of 2011 he composed and recorded the soundtrack of the theater play Impronautas, for the Improducción company, which is presented in various parts of the city with good reviews, and he briefly participates playing guitar in the Salvador Ribas Chamber Orchestra, which performs classical music.

In May of that year he was invited to participate in the European Workshop Acoustic Strings 2011 conference cycle organized in Austria, as a guitar, charango and bandurria performer, where he presented a conference on Creativity and style, another on Music from outside Europe, and a final on Creative use of analog delay. He also makes a dossier in collaboration with Robert Bray, on the Relationship between the visible spectrum and musical notes and participates in several concerts in Insbruck and surrounding areas, as well as in north of Italy.

In September he gives a series of concerts in Portugal, and closes the year playing in London area. He also gives concerts in venues in Granada and Madrid, which are very well received by the public.

In February 2012 he is a finalist in the Barcelona Visual Sound original soundtrack contest, in which he participates with his original work “Ethnodelic Puzzle”, where he fuses world and electronic music. That year he also participated in the documentary “Barcelona Music Talk”, for which he was interviewed as an artist and producer, along with several figures from the Barcelona scene.

Around this time he joined the Centro de Argentinos de Catalunya as a stable collaborator, and later became artistic director, participating in the production and execution of various events and in the creation of a cultural bridge between Argentina and Spain, organizing talks, concerts and presentations by various artists and public figures in both countries (musicians, film directors, politicians, actors, etc.).

2013 starts playing in England with the group Nothing Concrete, with whom they also recorded the self-titled EP at Pear Studios. He participates in the EP playing dobro, banjo, guitar, ukulele and charango.

In February he performs a Tribute to Luis Alberto Spinetta at the Argentine Consulate in Barcelona, sponsored by the Argentine Embassy in Spain, the Center of Argentines in Catalonia and Casa América, in which the capacity of the room is doubled. In this tribute he presents a conference on "El Flaco" literary work, a video about his life, and an acoustic concert.

From November of this year until March 2014, he made few presentations in different provinces of Argentina, and continued recording his songs, with one of them featuring one of his lifelong idols, Willy Quiroga, a member of the legendary group Vox Dei, in bass guitar.

In the month of March, along Laura Cabral, them created the Festival de la Diversidad Musical Under - FeDMUn (Underground Scene Diversity Fest), holding the first edition in the city of Buenos Aires, at Espacio Cultural Nuestros Hijos, of the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, thanks to the invitation received from the Minister of Culture of the Nation Teresa Parodi. With this festival, in which he participates as a producer and artist, they contribute to the rapid development of the careers of the participating artists, and are interviewed by various print, radio and public TV media.

Also during this trip he presents lectures on creativity to art school students, encouraging them to develop their own style and ability to compose.

In March 2015, the second edition was held, on which occasion he participated again as a producer, with even more satisfactory results than in the previous edition.

In May of the same year he participated in the artistic meeting Déballage Barcelona, as an artist and stage director/producer. It takes place at the Estación de Francia, and in addition to live music, it includes an art, vinyl records and antiques market.

At the end of the same year he was producer and stage director of the multi-artistic and multicultural festival Soulmade, held at the Center for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB). He is in charge of the production and hiring of the artists and stage management, in addition to participating himself with his group.

During 2016 he recorded his first solo album, 160 habitaciones vacías (160 empty rooms), an album in which, in addition to composing the songs, he sings and plays all guitars (acoustic, electric, classical, fretless and slide), bass guitar (with and without frets), sitar , tanpura, keyboards, does midi programming for bass and percussion, and samples and edits hindu tabla. In addition to this, he records and produces the album. Guests on this album include Gyan Singh (tablas), Pedro Locubiche (percussion), Giuliano Cobelli (drums), RANroger (flute), Marko Jelaka (drums), Daniela Brantschen (cello) and Lucas Balbo (flamenco cajón).

Also during this year he participates as a producer in the second edition of Soulmade, this time at the Poble Espanyol venue, and once again fulfills the same functions, this time being in charge of directing 3 musical stages and part of the planning and production of the event, in addition to participating with his group Hipercandombe.

During this same year he participated as a musician in the Sun and Moon Festival, in Brighton (England), with a good reception from the public and the subsequent invitation to play at other festivals.

During 2018 he released his second solo album, Flores del limbo (flowers from limbo), an album in which, in addition to composing the songs, he sings and plays guitars (acoustic, electric, classical, 12-string, e-bow and slide), bass guitar (with and without frets), sitar, keyboards, minimoog, and does midi programming for drums and percussion (djembe, sangba, dununba, bass drum). He is also responsible for the recording and production of the album.

This album features guests Willy Quiroga (bass), RANroger (flutes), Daniela Branstchen (cellos), Pedro Locubiche (percussion), Emiliano Billordo (bombo legüero), Mark Monsalvo (acoustic guitar) and Joel Antas (didgeridoo) .

Since 2019 he has begun to make paintings, in a surrealist style, having a good reception in terms of critics and sales.

During 2023 he recorded and released the album Simbiosis in collaboration with Tashi Deva, as the beginning of a project of duo collaborations with different artists. He is also recording his third solo album, in which he plays most of the instruments himself.

He also continues with his vein of literary creation and is writing his first novel, in hypertextual format.

He also publishes his first book of poetry out of a total of five that he has already finished. This book, titled Babilonia y los girasoles (Babylon and the sunflowers), brings together poems from different periods of his life, selected for their themes of social, religious and political criticism with the highly lyrical and original style that characterizes him.

Currently, he is part of the group Lupercalia, with which he begins to perform again on the stages of Barcelona.
